GOMBAK: All 14 policemen and a senior cop with Inspector rank, detained after testing positive for drugs in a raid at a KTV entertainment outlet in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, have been suspended.

One more who was at the outlet but did not test positive for drugs was released and is now being probed for disciplinary action for his presence at the spot.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIGP), Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the case of two deputy public prosecutors who were also tested positive on drugs will be handed over to the Attorney General Chambers for next course of action.

"Action has already been taken. They were arrested and we are in the midst of completing the investigation papers to be handed over to the Attorney General (AG)," he said when met at Tanah Perkuburan Raudatul Sakinah here.

He was here to pay his last respect to the late Pahang state executive council member Datuk Seri Johari Harun who died in the private jet crash at Elmina, Shah Alam, recently.

Fifteen policemen and two deputy public prosecutors were arrested in a raid on an entertainment outlet in Seremban, Negri Sembilan, by the Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS) from Bukit Aman.

Ayob Khan said that all the policemen were released on bail pending completion of the investigating papers.

He also stressed that the action taken was not because the matter went viral. It was taken on any party or officers detained at the outlet.

"We will not tolerate. Whoever was caught will face action, not because action is taken after it was reported by a certain portal," he added.

He also said that police had taken disciplinary action against 741 of its men and around 60 of the officers were expelled from work in July.

"The disciplinary process will take a long time and ask the public not to think that the police let the members and officers involved go without action.

"They (suspects) were given police bail, that's a normal process. Don't ask why they were released, that's a normal process under Section 15 (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

"Even if the initial screening is positive, we will send the sample to pathology which may take a month," he said.
