SHAH ALAM: Two individuals were sentenced to one day in jail and RM8,000 fine each, after pleading guilty to corruption charges this morning.

Session Court judge Datuk Anita Harun meted down sentences to Erhanhazwan Hasim, 38, and Ali Mochammad, 35, today.

She also ordered them to serve eight months in prison if they fail to pay the fine.

The duo pleaded guilty to cheating a 40-year-old woman on March 23, 2021, into believing that they would repair her vehicle without an insurance claim, and therefore induced her to submit a copy of her identity card and her car grant to the accused.

They were accused of committing the offence at the Selangor State Department of Culture and Arts office in Shah Alam.

The offence is framed under Section 415 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum five year's jail and a fine upon conviction.

The duo was not represented while prosecution was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor Muaz Ahmad Khairuddin and Mohd Aliff Shaharuzaman.
