BENTONG: Police discovered the body of a man with multiple injuries and burn marks at his residence in Flat Purnama here last Sunday.

The 64-year-old victim's disabled son was at the scene when the authorities arrived.

District police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar said they received a report about the discovery of a body about 11am.

"Initial information showed that the man was found lying on the floor of his house, with injuries and burn marks.

"Investigations revealed that the victim's wife, 61, and another son, 28, had gone to Kuala Lumpur for treatment at a hospital on June 19.

"The victim was at home with their youngest son, 22, who has learning disability."

Zaiham said the son had been remanded for seven days starting yesterday to assist with murder investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

"The authorities are tracing the son's activities at home prior to the discovery of the body."

The victim's body was sent to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital in Kuantan for a post-mortem.

Police requested those with information on the incident to contact the Bentong district police headquarters at 09-2222222 or go to the nearest police station.

Pahang Fire and Rescue Department (operations) assistant director Ismail Abdul Ghani said they received a call from the police at 4.10pm last Sunday to retrieve a body.

"When the Fire Department team arrived at the scene, they saw burnt trace on the cloth covering the victim's body.

"We have requested the assistance of the fire investigation team."
