KLUANG: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today detained an employee and a former principal of a school in Kluang district to assist in a probe into the alleged abuse of power in obtaining contracts related to supplies and maintenance.

Sources said two male suspects, aged 41 and 60, were detained at the commission's Kluang branch between 11am and 11.30am after being summoned to give their statements.

It was learnt that from 2015 to 2022, the two suspects abused their positions to obtain supplies and maintenance contracts.

The former principal was said to have approved the work for the company.

When contacted, Johor MACC director Datuk Azmi Alias confirmed the arrests and said the case was being investigated under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009 for abuse of power.

The suspects were later released on MACC bail.
