PADAWAN: A man was arrested after he ran amok and threatened to kill his cousin's husband using an axe in front of the victim's home in Kampung Nyabut, Trombol, here, last night.

Padawan police chief Superintendent Abang Zainal Abang Ahmad said the 31-year-old suspect was picked up at a house in Lorong 2, Kampung Nyabut, Trombol at 6.30pm today. The axe, used in the incident, has been confiscated.

The arrest was made following a report by the victim's wife.

Abang Zainal said initial investigations revealed that the suspect, armed with an axe, had gone to the complainant's house around 9.30pm and threatened to kill her husband.

He said the suspect kept shouting and screaming the complainant's husband's name.

"Worried that something bad might happen, the complainant's husband did not answer and just kept quiet and remained in the house.

"This made the suspect angry as he was dissatisfied for being accused of throwing rubbish near the complainant's house," he said.

Abang Zainal said the suspect's parents were also there trying to calm him down.

The suspect's father tried to take the axe away from him but ended up sustaining cuts and wounds to his hand.

"The suspect's father received treatment at Hospital Umum Sarawak and did not sustain any other injuries," he said.

Abang Zainal added that the suspect has been remanded for four days to facilitate investigations.
