KUCHING: A soldier shot himself after he went on a rampage by firing several shots with a weapon believed to be a M4 carbine rifle at Kampung Kolong 1, Sungai Tengah, at Jalan Matang here today.
Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail confirmed the incident.
He said the 20-year-old suspect died at the scene due to head injuries while his mother-in-law also suffered injuries in the incident.
"Yes ... the incident happened at about 12.30pm this afternoon and an investigation is currently underway," he said when contacted.
It was learnt that the woman (mother-in-law) was rushed to the Sarawak General Hospital.
