LIPIS: Three individuals, including a woman who attempted to remove concrete barriers at the district border between Kampung Jerkoh (Lipis) and Ulu Raub (Raub) yesterday, were compounded RM1,500 each.

Both the 31-year-old male suspects and 43-year-old woman from Benta in Lipis and Raub near here were spotted by a police patrol team in front of the barriers about 6pm before they were taken to the district police station.

District police chief Superintendent Azli Mohd Noor said policemen making their rounds along the village road spotted a Perodua Kelisa parked in front of the concrete barriers.

"Three individuals were standing near the barriers and checks revealed they were attempting to cross the blocked path at the district border. They could not provide a valid explanation for their actions and did not practise physical distancing," he said in a statement.

Azli said the trio were taken to the Kuala Lipis police station for investigations under Regulation 16(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures in Local Areas of Infection) Regulations 2021.

The concrete barriers were put up to prevent the villagers living in the vicinity from crossing districts to curb the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
