KOTA KINABALU: A woman was fined RM1,000 by the Magistrate's Court here today after she pled guilty to stealing three bottles of oyster sauce.

Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie said the accused, Tong Fei Mei, 45, would have to serve three months in prison if she failed to pay the fine.

The accused was charged under Section 380 of the Penal Code, which provides for a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine if convicted.

Tong was charged with committing the offence at a supermarket in Penampang at about 2.30pm on Jan 12.

Prosecuting officer Inspector Suzie @ Stephanie Kupit prosecuted while the accused was unrepresented.
