KUCHING: A Form Two student claimed he was sexually assaulted by a family friend, a police lance corporal, on Monday.
The 14-year-old victim alleged the incident occurred inside the suspect's car at a secluded spot in Batu Kawa here about 1pm.
The suspect, attached with the state police headquaters, was alleged to have gone to victim's house and offered to take the boy to his sister's shop nearby.
"Instead of taking the victim to his sister's shop, the suspect took the boy to a secluded spot and sexually assaulted him," said Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief Datuk Dev Kumar.
Traumatised by the incident, the boy lodged a report at the Batu Kawa police station here at 12.45am today.
Acting on the police report, a team from the Padawan district CID arrested the suspect, 33, at his house in Jalan Pinang Jawa about five hours later.
Dev said the case was investigated under Section 14 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which carries a punishment of more than 20 years' imprisonment and a fine, if found guilty.
"The suspect will be produced for remand at the Kuching Court Complex (in Petra Jaya) tomorrow morning," he said.
