KOTA BARU: A former police inspector and two prison warders were among seven people charged at the Session Court here today for corruption.

The others included a businessman, contractor and traders. They were charged in front of judge Adli Ghalib.

Former police inspector Kavikumar Perumal, 27, faced two charges of asking for RM15,000 and trying to get RM10,000 from a man in Gual Periuk, Pasir Mas as inducement for not taking action over suspected possession of a stolen car.

The offences were allegedly committed on Nov 22 and 24, 2015.

Meanwhile, the two warders were charged separately with accepting a bribe from a man for not separating a convict at separate blocks after he was tested positive for drugs.

Chief Inspector Mohd Zamri Abdullah was charged with accepting RM3,000 at the KFC Restaurant in Baung, Pengkalan Chepa in Dec last year while Lans Koperal Dzul Azam Nani was charged with accepting the money on behalf of Zamri.

All the men claimed trial to the charges.
