SEREMBAN: April 25 has been declared a state public holiday as a replacement date to celebrate Israk & Mikraj, which falls on April 24, and is already a scheduled state public holiday.

Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said the highly anticipated replacement public holiday is now official and the private sector as well as industries located within the state has to make the necessary adjustment.

“Such additional public holiday may pose difficulties to the manufacturing industries for instance, but the employers would have to oblige as it is within the purview of the Act of Parliament,” Mohamad told reporters at his weekly press conference at Wisma Negeri here today.

“It falls under Section 8 of the Holidays Act 1951 (Act 369), and as such, there is no question about recognising it or otherwise.”

Mohamad further emphasised that both public and private sectors would have to accord respect to the Federal government in declaring April 24 as an additional public holiday, as it is in conjunction with the coronation of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V.
