PUTRAJAYA: A Nepali worker who was killed instantly after falling from an under-construction building at the site of the new Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) complex at Presint 7 here yesterday, may have committed suicide.

Putrajaya OCPD Asst Comm Rosly Hassan said the worker wasn't supposed to be at the site, as he was not rostered to work yesterday.

"Besides that, the victim worked at another building on the construction site – not where he fell from.

"However, we are still investigating why he was at the construction site when he was not supposed to work," Rosly said at the 210th Police Day celebration at the Putrajaya Police headquarters here today.

Yesterday, Bhim Bahadur Katuwal, 31, is believed to have fallen from either the 17th or 23rd floor of the building, at about 8.50am.

He landed on another worker, a Bangladeshi who was on a suspended scaffolding, on the ground floor.

Meanwhile, at the Police Day celebrations, 20 individuals, including four journalists, received certificate of appreciation from Rosly for their commitment and cooperation with police in Putrajaya.

Among the reporters honoured were Utusan Putrajaya bureau chief, Norliza Abd Rahman and Kosmo! reporter, Shafawati Yup.
