GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Hill funicular train service will be suspended for 10 days to facilitate for its annual maintenance works in January next year.

Penang Hill Corporation (PHC) acting general manager Datuk Ng Wee Kok said the service shutdown would be observed between Jan 9 and 18, 2017.

He said the closure would enable maintenance works to be wrapped up. Normal service will resume on Jan 19.

“Visitors can opt for alternative routes via the jeep track from the Botanical Gardens or the existing routes to the hill top,” he said in a statement today.

Ong said PHC apologised for any inconvenience caused.
