IPOH: A doctor was fined RM10,000 at the Ipoh Sessions Court here for falsifying the medical report of a patient who was about to take a Road Transport Department (RTD) Vocational Driving Licence (VDL) test three years ago.

According to the charge sheet, Doctor R. Pathmanathan, of Kumpulan Poliklinik Manjung Sdn Bhd at No 2446, Taman Samudera, Bandar Seri Manjung, pleaded guilty and paid the fine at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC)'s special court here today.

The 54-year-old committed the crime on March 7, 2013, and was charged under Section 465 of the Penal Code for corruption punishable under Section 465 of the same code which carries a jail term of up to two years, or a fine, or both upon conviction.

MACC deputy public prosecutor Nurul Wahidah Jalalluddin prosecuted, while Pathmanathan was represented by Datuk V. Manokaran.

On March 7, 2013, the patient, Mohd Saiful Baqhtiar Mohd Rohaizat, went to Kumpulan Poliklinik Manjung to obtain a medical report to renew his VDL license.

However, the accused did not carry out a medical check-up on Saiful and approved his medical report.
