GEORGE TOWN: The DAP-led state government has diverted public attention on the chronic issue of flash floods statewide by focusing only on its achievements in selected areas.

This was the claim made by Gerakan Tanjung division vice-chairman H'ng Khoon Leng against state Local Government and Flood Mitigation Committee chairman Chow Kon Yeow, whom he claimed was not looking at tackling floods from a bigger perspective.

"People are interested in knowing the overall flood mitigation plan in Penang, not just how it affects one suburb.

"Chow should re-focus his mind on a master plan from the state government to tackle the flood problem statewide," H'ng told a press conference today.

He also asked Chow to stop blaming everyone else save Penang's own administration in the wake of the frequent flash floods.

Chow could not be reached for an immediate response.
