GEORGE TOWN: Penang and Langkawi have been named among the 10 best islands in Asia.
DestinAsian's 17th annual Readers' Choice Awards 2024 placed the two at No. 8 and No. 7, respectively.
DestinAsian is a travel and lifestyle magazine focusing on the Asia-Pacific region.
Bali was at No. 1, followed by Maldives, Phuket, Koh Samui, Boracay and Phu Quoc.
This year's edition of the awards featured an expanded list of boutique lodgings and new categories.
More than 230 properties were included, as well as cities, islands, cruise lines and airlines.
Penang Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman Wong Hon Wai posted on Facebook: "Congrats! Penang has been named in the top 10 Best Islands in Asia 2024."
The islands also got into the top 10 in Southeast Asia in the first-ever Asia's Best Awards 2022.
The list was published by Travel + Leisure, a resource for hotels, flight sales, city guides, and travel tips.
