KUALA LUMPUR: A man was seriously injured when he fell eight floors down an elevator shaft at the PPR Taman Wahyu flats, earlier today.

The incident is believed to have occurred at 11.30am at Block B of the flats. Residents found the 44-year-old man lying in a pool of blood after he fell down the shaft.

Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department (KLFRD) acting assistant director of operations Samsol Maarif Saibani said they were alerted to the incident at 11.34am.

A team of 12 firemen and KLFRD paramedics with a fire engine and two ambulances were rushed to the scene.

The team found the victim unconscious, but alive, at the bottom of the elevator shaft.

Samsol said the victim, later identified as Muhammad Raif Ramesh Abdullah from Taman Samudera in Batu Caves, Selangor, was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Details have yet to be obtained at press time how the victim managed to fall down the elevator shaft.
