GEORGE TOWN: A senior citizen is missing after falling overboard the Pulau Angsa ferry this afternoon, just about it departed the Pengkalan Tun Uda port today.
According to reports, a man, in his 60s, was sitting in the passenger area on the top level before falling off at 11.25am.
The incident was witnessed by two passengers at the bottom level of the ferry
The victim was believed to be a Chinese man wearing a striped blue and white shirt. He was believed to have walked to the top level before falling.
The crew found a pair of slippers, believed to be the victim's at the passenger section.
Rescuers from the Lebuh Pantai, Perai and Paya Terubong Fire and Rescue Department arrived around 12pm and started their search for six hours.
A total of 13 firemen and three marine department rescue unit officials were despatched to the scene.
As of 8pm, efforts are still ongoing to locate the victim
