GEORGE TOWN: Penang DAP will stand behind embattled Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, despite the allegations of graft hurled towards him.

State DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow said following a meeting with 25 DAP assemblymen, parliamentarians and leaders today, they had concluded that Lim was a victim of political persecution.

“Based on facts presented, there is no case on the CM, and through a legal lens, there is no case against the CM.

“This is just political persecution and victimisation on CM and his integrity, as well as questioning the integrity of the DAP,” he said in a press conference at Penang DAP headquarters here today.

Chow also said it would give full cooperation to Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission officers to investigate the Taman Manggis land sale.

Lim has been embroiled in controversy when documents showing he bought a bungalow at lower than market rate surfaced last month.

The previous bungalow owner was linked to the contentious Taman Manggis land, where a flat for poor people was supposed to have built.
