GEORGE TOWN: Councillor Dr Lim Mah Hui who criticized city council enforcement officers for underperforming remains adamant that his allegation was correct and factual.

Today, he provided data in the form of records of the Penang Island Municipal Council (MBPP) from five years ago which showed that in Oct 2011 and Mar, Apr and May 2012, the enforcement officers only towed one car per month.

“I provided data based on the council’s own record and the mayor and council secretary who have the records did not inform Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng that what I said was true.

“In return, Lim has led to a situation of turning council staff and councillors against me.

“Mr,Lim should not talk when he does not know his facts as though I do not know what I am saying ... I 'turun padang' (go down to the field) and I know what is happening,” he said yesterday.

MBPP mayor Patahiyah Ismail, however, reiterated and maintained that council enforcement officers are towing nearly 500 cars a month on the island in the present time.

“I wish to clarify that Dr Lim’s allegations are baseless...on average, 500 cars are being towed a month,” she said today.
