BUTTERWORTH: Admit that Penang has a problem of ‘expensive’ affordable housing, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng was told yesterday.

Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan said Lim should stop the ‘tai-chi’ by blaming the Federal Government over affordable homes priced up to RM400,000.

“It is the prerogative of all state governments to set prices of affordable homes on their own. So it is ridiculous to blame my ministry.

“Be a man and admit that the RM400,000 homes were of your own doing. Answer to the people of Penang and do not blame it on Rahman Dahlan.

“You have been CM for the past seven years. And you have often said that you are better than Barisan Nasional. That was seven years ago, wake up. You are the CM now.” he said after opening the Batu Kawan Umno clustered meeting in Pearl View Hotel in Prai here on Friday night.

Lim was accused of lying about the prices of affordable homes by Rahman at a recent Dewan Rakyat sitting.

Lim had stressed that the Penang government had merely followed Federal-sanctioned pricing guidelines for its affordable homes.
