KUALA LUMPUR: A 21-year-old youth accused of using a padlock to cause hurt to a man was charged at the magistrate's court today.

S.Saravan who worked as a hand phone shop assistant pleaded not guilty to injuring one M. Arwind Indran, 23, by using a padlock three days ago.

He allegedly committed the offence at Flat Sri Perak Bandar Baru Sentul here at 11pm on March 15.

In pleading for minimum bail, counsel Zulkifli Awang said his client is the sole breadwinner of the family and is supporting his mother and grandmother.

"He is also paying for the house rent each month," he said.

Magistrate Mahyudin Mohmad Som set RM1,800 bail with one surety and fixed April 1 for mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Mohd Fadaly Mohd Zamri prosecuted.
