GEORGE TOWN: A group of councillors gathered today at the town hall demanding an apology from fellow councillor Dr Lim Mah Hui for his accusations towards the city council enforcement officers.

Dr Lim had recently been in the limelight for accusing Penang Island City Council (MBPP) enforcement officers of under-performing.

He had claimed that only one or two cars were towed away by the council in a month.

The group of 12 councillors, headed by Ong Ah Teong, demanded an immediate apology from Dr Lim, as they said that such accusations can damage the council's reputation.

"We want Dr Lim to apologise for his damaging allegations to MBPP mayor Datuk Pattahiyah Ismail, secretary Ang Aing Thye, all councillors and the affected enforcement officers.

"Enforcement officers are the ones working under the sun, towing around 500 cars in a month just on the island alone.

"It is unfair for him (Dr Lim) to label them as under-performing," said Ong today.
