KUALA LUMPUR: An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter Scale rocked North Sumatra at 5.34 pm, today.

According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department, the epicentre of the earthquake was 159km East of Nias, Indonesia and 404km South-West of Klang, Selangor.

The department announced that the earthquake did not pose a tsunami threat. -- Bernama
