IPOH: Sitiawan assemblyman Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham has been suspended from the Perak legislative assembly for the rest of the day after accusing Speaker Datuk Seri S. K. Devamany of bias.

Ngeh had wanted Devamany to extend his 20-minute debate on the Supply Bill 2016 as he was interrupted by backbenchers.

When Devamany refused, Ngeh burst out and accused the Speaker of being unfair.

Devamany said he made the decision as Ngeh had used provocative words which lead to chaos in the House.

Ngeh had earlier accused the Perak state government of stealing RM5 billion from the people by giving land to Menteri Besar Incorporated.

He however retracted the word 'stealing' following protest from backbenchers.

Later, a motion to refer Aulong assemblyman Leow Thye Yih to the Rights and Privileges Committee was passed for accusing the Menteri Besar of receiving commission from developers.

Leow has until this afternoon to retract his allegation, failing which he would be referred to the committee.

The motion was brought by Datuk Zahir Khalid (BN-Kamunting) and seconded by

Datuk Khusairi Talib (BN-Slim).
