GEORGE TOWN: It is important for MCA to rejoin the cabinet as this will enable it to provide better services to the Chinese community, said the party's Public Service and Complaints Department head Datuk Seri Michael Chong.

In appealing to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to give MCA cabinet minister and deputy minister posts, Chong said the party's inclusion in the cabinet would enable its Public Service and Complaints Department to better serve the community.

"We believe this will lighten the work of the department in helping people. Chinese associations and businessmen are also turning to us after realising things are tough without MCA in the cabinet.

"This makes it crucial for MCA to be in the cabinet. I hope Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak will appoint MCA leaders into the cabinet," he said yesterday.

Najib had on May 3 invited the MCA to rejoin the cabinet, and gave the thumbs-up to MCA's bid to return to the cabinet, saying the party still played an important role in charting the country's future.
