Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak paid tribute to the sacrifices made by security forces in protecting the nation’s sovereignty and it reminded us about one of the security forces which recently celebrated its 57th anniversary.

The journey of Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) started on Monday June 2, 1958 when Parliament approved air force ordinance. It was first called “Royal Federal Air Force”.

In his speech Najib said the government was aware of the heavy responsibilities shouldered by members of the security forces.

"While some can be with their family at this time but many of you here are at the frontline carrying out your duties," he said.

They are taking part in miltary exercise "Short Gallop", near Mersing on the east coast of West Malaysia. "Short Gallop" is a preparatory exercise forming part of Exercise Bersatu Padu.
