BUTTERWORTH: The Special Tactical Intelligence Narcotics Group (Sting) seized 26 kg of heroin from a house turned into a drug laboratory in Sungai Dua here early today.

A police source said a 48-year-old man was picked up at 2.45 am following tip-off from the public and several weeks of intelligence gathering.

He said drug-making paraphernalia and raw material and chemical used to produce heroin were recovered from the house.

The first suspect led the police to the arrest of a 54-year-old accomplice in Alor Star, Kedah shortly after, the source said.

Meanwhile, in his Twitter post, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar commended Sting for uncovering the drug lab and arrest of the two suspects.

Bukit Aman Narcotics CID director Datuk Seri Noor Rashid Ibrahim is expected to give details of the raid tomorrow. -- BERNAMA
