SHAH ALAM: Selangor Mufti Datuk Seri Mohd Tamyes Abd Wahid is expected to seek an audience with the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharifuddin Idris Shah today over the call for judicial review by women rights group Sisters on Islam (SIS) against a fatwa declaring SIS as 'deviant'.

A source close to the state government said the Mufti will release a statement on the matter soon and will be the only one allowed to do so as it is a matter of fatwa.

SIS had named other respondents named in the review, namely Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS), the state fatwa committee and the state government.

MAIS chairman Datuk Mohamad Adzib when met at Malam Kecemerlangan Muallaf Selangor last night refused to comment on the matter.

However, he confirmed that Mohd Tamyes would be at a function with His Royal Highness the Sultan today.
