KULAIJAYA: Lance corporal Mohd Azuan Abdullah, who was killed in the course of duty, was a responsible and dedicated member of the Motorcycle Patrol Unit (URB), said Bukit Aman Crime Prevention and Eradication Department director Datuk Wira Ayub Yaakob.

"His sacrifices cannot be compensated with cash and kind. He will always be remembered," said Wira Ayub when visiting Azuan's family here on Tuesday.

Also present was Kulaijaya deputy district police chief Deputy Superintendent Mohad Samsuri Idris.

Azuan, 25, was attached to the Kerian district police. He was killed on May 26 after his motorcycle was rammed by a car while he and his colleague were chasing a suspect near Jalan Bagan Serai-Alor Pongsu in Perak. The Honda Civic was believed to be driven by accomplices of the suspect. His colleague was seriously injured in the accident.

British American Tobacco business development and service department head Azlan Ibrahim presented RM10,000 on behalf of the company to Azuan's parents Abdullah Mahmood and Afidah Ehsan; while Ayub gave an undisclosed amount from the PDRM Welfare Fund.

Abdullah said the family had accepted the tragedy as an act of God.

"Every day after work, I visit Azuan's grave," he said.

Azuan was buried in the Batu 22 Muslim cemetery in Jalan Johor Baru-Ayer Hitam.

He said the family hoped that those responsible for Azuan's death will be brought to justice soon.

Azuan was to have been married on June 1 to Nur Faizah Muhamad Rejab.

Anyone who has information on the case is urged to come forward.

Meanwhile, the police are in the process of gathering information and hope the suspects will be identified soon. By Norbaiti Phaharoradzi
