BALIK PULAU: A man was shocked to find a newborn baby, with his umbilical cord still attached, in a blanket placed on his car's bonnet in Bayan Lepas early this morning.
In the 4.30am incident, Muhamad Hafizi Ishak was walking to his car after his night shift ended, when he heard a baby's cries.
He was taken aback when he saw the baby on his car's bonnet.
Muhamad Hafizi immediately brought the baby to the Bayan Lepas police station and handed the infant over to the police.
Southwest district deputy police chief Deputy Superintendant Nor Salawati Saad, in confirming the incident, said the baby was unharmed.
"We are now in the midst of tracking down the mother or the suspect involved," she said.
The infant has been sent to the Penang Hospital for treatment.
