KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Embassy in Ukraine has in the last few hours been tracking updates on the unnerving Malaysia Airlines plane crash near Donetsk, in eastern Ukraine.

An officer at the Malaysian Embassy in Kiev said it was weighing options of rushing representatives to the crash site, about 700km away.

She told the New Straits Times when contacted that the Embassy was in constant contact with the Ukrainian Government.

Asked specifically on reports of the Boeing 777 being shot down, she said: "There has been no confirmation ...we are collecting information."
