JOHOR BARU: Johor Corp (JCorp), through its subsidiary Johor Land Bhd, will undertake a RM1 billion integrated development project, the “Larkin Central Park”, in Larkin next year.

President and chief executive Datuk Kamaruzzaman Abu Kassim said the project, covering more than 40ha belonging to the group and the Johor government, focuses on developments that will benefit the people.

Larkin Central Park, he added, will embrace the building of sports infrastructure, including a swimming pool and an indoor stadium, and upgrading of the existing football stadium.

The football stadium seats up to 30,000 spectators now and with the upgrading, the number will go up to 40,000.

“At the same time, affordable housing in the form of apartments of not more than 400 units, as well as a commercial area, will also be developed,” Kamaruzzaman said.

“The project has been approved by the state executive council. We are now finalising the development plan. We hope to finalise it before year-end for submission to the authorities,” he said here, last night.

To ensure that the project proceeds smoothly, JCorp has allocated RM270 million for upgrading and widening works.

Larkin Central Park, which will see the indoor stadium becoming a landmark in the city, is expected to be completed within four years. Bernama
