SHAH ALAM: Three non-governmental organisations in Selangor yesterday expressed concern over the proposed construction of a horse racing track in Bukit Tagar.

Pertubuhan Martabat Jalinan Muhibbah Malaysia (MJMM), Ikatan Rakyat Insan Muslim Malaysia (IRIMM) and the Malaysian Consumers Development Board (LPPM) were among the NGOs that objected to the proposed construction and insisted that it would only bring social problems.

IRIMM president Amir Amsaa Alla Pitchay dismissed a survey quoted by the developer that stated 50 per cent of Malays in the area did not object to the construction of the track. He demanded proof of the authenticity of the sampling size and result.

“This lame excuse by the developer to justify their plan to construct the racing track is unacceptable and we reject the survey as it is unfounded and irrelevant.

Amir, accompanied by 10 other representatives of the three NGOs, was speaking at the state assembly building here before the group handed a memorandum protesting the construction of the track to the menteri besar’s principal private secretary, Mohamad Yasid Bidin.
