PUTRAJAYA: The Transport Ministry has set up an investigation team to probe the ill-fated AS365 N2 Eurocopter Dauphin which crashed in Semenyih, Selangor on Saturday killing the late Tan Sri Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis and five others on board.

Its minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the team will be headed by Datuk Yahya Abdul Rahman, who has 20 years experience in helicopter accident investigations.

Liow said the team will have four members, which would be assisted by an accredited representative from France as the country was the state of design and manufacturer of the aircraft and engine.

He said the black box, or flight data recorder, of the aircraft which was recovered this morning, appeared to be in good condition and will be sent off to the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) in the United Kingdom to have its data extracted.

Liow said it may take three days to extract the data from the black box and another week to make an analysis.

"We remain committed to finding the reasons of the accident because it was our responsibility," he told a press conference at the ministry headquarters, here, this evening.
