PETALING JAYA: Some 25 children from Pertubuhan Perkhidmatan Sosial dan Pembangunan Komuniti Daerah Gombak or better known as the Selayang Community Centre were treated to QNET Malaysia Hari Raya Open House at the QI Tower here recently.
The children, aged 9 to 12, enjoyed a delicious spread of vegetarian dishes and local favourites which included traditional Raya lontong and ketupat palas.
They also received a goodie bag each and participated in a colouring activity.
“We are blessed with many things that we sometimes take for granted such as the great food, beauty and diversity of the Malaysian race as well as our beautiful weather.
“In the midst of enjoying our good fortunes, we sometimes forget the less fortunate who need our care and attention,” said QNET director Krishna Kumar.
The children are also part of QNET Malaysia’s flagship programme called “Footprints” where QNET mentors a child during a 10-month programme, which is administered by the company’s CSR partner, Vijayaratnam
Foundation.
The friendship between the mentor and child provides the child with a chance to develop confidence and learn about the world around them.
“This spirit of giving and sharing is what spurs us to nurture our communities in all our work around the globe, which is carried out under the Raise Yourself To Help Mankind programme.
“It is the guiding principle in all that we do,” said Krishna.
About 300 people attended the Hari Raya Open House event.
