KUALA LUMPUR: The MCA Youth movement today asked the Education Ministry to announce the method of accepting Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) students into the Matriculation Programme.

Its head, Chong Sin Woon said today this was because the movement found that many applicants who fulfilled the conditions to enter the matriculation programme had failed to get any offer despite having made an appeal.

"Some of them obtained up to 8A+ but failed to get a place while there were applicants obtaining only 2A+ who were offered places," he claimed at a media conference after chairing a Committee Meeting of the MCA Youth, here today.

Chong, who is also Head of the Education Bureau of the MCA Youth movement, said the bureau helped 175 applicants from the Chinese community who failed to get places in making their appeals, but only 23 of them succeeded in their appeals.

He believed many of them did not know the method of selection into the Matriculation Programme as some of them had obtained excellent results but failed to get a place despite being active in cocurriculum activities.

In another development, Chong said the party would show the World Cup football matches throughout the period beginning June 12 using a large screen in front of the Wisma MCA, here.
