PUTRAJAYA: Health Minister Datuk Seri S. Subramaniam said the number of dengue cases have reduced by 50 per cent in the mid of April compared to the same period in January this year.

He said the number of infections currently recorded was down 1,600 compared to 3,500 cases on the second week of January.

The number of localities were also down 615 compared to 1,131, while hotspots, too, slumped from 248 areas to 139.

"This has shown that the effort by the ministry to emphasise on cleanliness had worked with the help of state governments, and local authorities," he told a press conference at the ministry, here, this afternoon.
