MEMBERS of the Koperasi Permai Bersatu Johor Baru Bhd (KPB) have been praised by Kempas state assemblyman Datuk Tengku Putra Haron Aminurrashid Tengku Hamid Jumat for venturing into the engine oil business.

Tengku Putra Haron said he was glad to learn about the venture into the engine oil market with a product branded as GTO (Green Technology).

The enterprise is a joint effort between KPB and a private company. It will be launched at its warehouse in Ayer Hitam, about 90km from here, tomorrow.

Members of KPB are also staff of Permai Hospital, a mental institution in Tampoi, here.

Tengku Putra Haron said this at the cooperative's family day gathering held at the Danga City Mall bowling alley.

"I feel honoured that the hospital is in my constituency.

"As your representative, I will assist in whatever way I can to ensure that your business flourishes."

KPB chairman Abdul Fattah Hamid said a representative of Malaysia Co-Operative Societies Commission is expected to launch the product.

"I am optimistic that KPB's venture in the engine oil industry will thrive as the product is price competitively and is affordable," he said.

Fattah said the family gathering was to strengthen ties among staff, members of KPB, and their families.

"Besides games, the cooperative is planning to organise tours and other festive gatherings," he added.

Fourteen teams vied for the Piala Pusingan Adun Kempas (Kempas State Assemblyman Challenge Trophy) which was donated by Tengku Putra Haron. He had also donated the other prizes which he later presented to the winning teams.

Gegar Satu, led by Fattah, emerged as the champion team.
