KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Venture Capital Management Bhd (Mavcap) has appointed Abdul Rahim Abdul Hamid as its new chairman effective July 1, following the retirement of Tan Sri Dr Abdul Samad Haji Alias.

Abdul Rahim has been a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants since 1982.

He started his career with Coopers & Lybrand in September 1973, rising through the ranks and retiring as the deputy executive chairman of PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2004.

Upon his retirement, he established Rahim Hamid & Co, now renamed ARH Associates, providing professional services in mergers and acquisition, insolvency and recovery and muamalat business advisory.

Abdul Rahim is director at Petra Energy Bhd, AEON Co (M) Bhd, MIDF Amanah Asset Management Bhd, Malaysia Debt Ventures Bhd and Technology Park Malaysia Corporation Sdn Bhd.

Mavcap is a company under the Minister of Finance Inc, which is involved in venture capital investment activities for small and medium enterprises in the ICT and technology sectors.
