PUTRAJAYA: A four-year-old girl is left in critical condition after falling seven floors from an apartment building in Presint 14, here, this afternoon.

Putrajaya Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Abdul Razak Abdul Majid said the victim plunged from the high-rise government quarters after being separated from her auntie when the latter failed to enter a lift with the child after its doors closed.

The two, he said, were headed to the auntie’s unit on the seventh floor when the lift’s door suddenly closed, leaving the girl alone.

He said the woman used a staircase to chase after the girl but could not save her in time as she had climbed on to a railing before dropping at least 50 feet.

Before hitting the ground, the girl had hit a roof on the first floor, which may have saved her from instant death.

“The victim was conscious when she was brought to the hospital,” he said when contacted today.
