SEREMBAN: “I miss my mother so much,” said Muhriz Marzaidi, the only child of Malaysia Airlines’ leading stewardess Mastura Mustafa, who was among the 298 people on board flight MH17 that was downed by a missile in Ukraine last Thursday.

The 10-year-old Year Four pupil at SK Taman Tasik Jaya said the last time he spent with his mother was when they broke fast together before she left for work last Tuesday.

Muhriz said he still remembered the dishes his mother cooked that day— kari daging, siakap tiga rasa and vegetables.

Now, the last meal between mother and son will be a bittersweet memory that he will hold dear for the rest of his life.

“I really love mum’s cooking as she cooked delicious food. My favourite dishes are kurma ayam and sup daging. Usually after coming back from a few days of work, my mother would cook my favourite food,” said the soft-spoken Muhriz when met at his grandfather’s home in Kampung Sentosa, Paroi, here yesterday.

Muhriz’s father was not at home as he was waiting for updates at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

Earlier, scores of visitors came to visit Muhriz and his grandfather, Mastura’s father Mustafa Abdul Samad, 63.

Among them were Ampangan assemblyman Datuk Abu Ubaidah Redza and Paroi assemblyman Mohd Ghazali Abdul Wahid.

Mustafa said he hoped his daughter’s body would be recovered in good condition, but even if it was not, he said he would still want to perform her burial rites.

He only wished that Mastura’s body could be brought back for burial at a Muslim cemetery near his home.

“If possible, I want to have a last look at her face.”
