GEORGE TOWN: GURNEY Paragon mall recently unleashed about 100 “ghouls”, “vampires”, “zombies” and other macabre personalities to celebrate the Western tradition of Halloween.

The characters clawed the air, bared their fangs, growled and danced to the beat of Michael Jackson’s classic Thriller.

However, the friendly flash mob “ghosts” were happy to have their photographs taken with shoppers.

Shoppers thronged the mall to join in the fun.

Besides encounters with the “spirits” from the netherworld, shoppers were reminded to watch out for the “walking dead” in the mall as two “corpses” were unleashed to spook the mall’s visitors.

The first 50 shoppers to bump into the “corpses” had their pictures taken with the ghoulish characters and uploaded onto the mall’s Facebook page.

A special edition Halloween sticky candy was also given to customers.

Gurney Paragon marketing communications manager Jasmine Tai said Halloween was not observed widely in Malaysia but was an annual event that should not to be missed.

“It may not be a part of our culture but our celebration provides an opportunity for people to have fun and dress up at a community ball,” she said.
