ZURICH Malaysia urges motorists to add special perils coverage after its in-house study found that 59 per cent of 990 local vehicle owners surveyed still do not have adequate protection against flood damage.

The coverage add-on protects against loss or damage caused by natural disasters such as floods and can be opted-in at any time throughout the year.

As warned by MetMalaysia (the Malaysian Meteorological Department), motorists are advised to take precaution in light of the increasing continuous heavy rains expected from mid-November.

The added rainfall is already leading to flash floods in some areas and can only intensify with the northeast monsoon season also in November, and La Nina phenomenon present until early 2023.

Customers are advised to speak to their insurance providers immediately to ensure they are adequately protected against special perils.
