It has been a long time coming but Kawasaki are back in the fray.

The smallest of the big four Japanese motorcycle manufacturers officially returns to the Malaysian market by formally reintroducing the Modenas Ninja 250, Modenas Ninja 250 ABS and Modenas Z 250 ABS models.

You read that right; the new models are now rebadged as Modenas and sold through its new official distributor, Edaran Modenas Sdn Bhd (EMOS), a subsidiary of Motosikal dan Enjin Nasional Sdn Bhd (Modenas).

All this is due to Kawasaki Motors. Ltd's recent increase of equity shares in the local manufacturer and as a result, all Kawasaki motorcycle models 650cc and below will be rebranded under the Modenas name.

"We at Modenas are very proud to share the same ethos with Kawasaki in prioritizing customers which will enable and ensure that all our customers get affordable, quality and technology-driven products. We aim to bring unique solutions and a heightened experience to the two-wheeled market.

"My message to all Kawasaki motorcycles owners, old and new; you can rest assure that under the management of Modenas, you can expect similar or superior levels of customer service. Modenas is continuously observing, learning and adapting the business operations of our technical partner and shareholder, Kawasaki Motors Limited," said Modenas chief executive officer Roslan Roskan.

"Together with the representatives from Kawasaki, we are all set for greater business expansions. Bringing you products and offerings to elevate your lifestyle through its wholesome experience. Till then, make sure to keep a close eye for our upcoming developments," he added.

No specification changes have been made for the three bikes in the transition bar the new Modenas branding.

All three are now assembled in the Modenas Gurun, Kedah plant and are available at all Kawasaki authorized dealers as of this month.

Pricing is extremely competitive with the Modenas Ninja 250 (available in Metallic Carbon Grey or Metallic Matte Graphite) at RM18,900, the Modenas Ninja 250 ABS (available in Metallic Matte Graphite Grey) at RM20,500 and the Modenas Z250 ABS (available in Metallic Spark Black) at RM19,500.
