KUALA LUMPUR: Although there were times when she felt like giving up on pursuing her doctorate, veteran actress Datuk Fauziah Nawi says she is fortunate to have a group of encouraging supporters including her supervisor and friends.

"I'm currently doing my research, and there is a lot of extra work I have to prepare.

"Frankly speaking, I feel like crying each time I'm told to come up with a new draft," the 70-year-old artiste said in a news report today.

"But my professor has kept reminding me to keep on with my research to avoid me from giving up," shared Fauziah who said she initially continued to pursue her studies despite her age because of her father's wishes.

"But later, the pursuit for the doctorate is also part of my efforts to help find the solution for the low payment issue faced by many actors and others in the industry," she said.

Fauziah also wanted to show the young artistes how important education is, and that it could be a safety net for them in the future.

The actress continued her studies after receiving her Master's degree in acting from Open University Malaysia (OUM) in 2018.
