FOR young singer Henry Moodie, one of the important things when composing a song is whether the end product creates an impact.

This is because his objective is for everyone to really enjoy his music.

As such, the 20-year-old Surrey-born artiste in the United Kingdom always prefers to get feedback from people around him.

Moodie believes that the various responses he gets are helpful, especially when it comes to creating newer songs.

In fact, when it comes to that, the fresh-faced singer prefers to listen to fans or the public, compared with people from the entertainment industry.

To him, listeners are the ones who would know how far his tunes would go.

"I always want to hear what others think of my songs. I'd share with the public and get their responses, to see whether they like them or not.

"Of course, as the creator, I'd have a different perspective on those songs compared with listeners' views," he shares.

"I also turn to my siblings, whose backgrounds aren't in music. But I find their feedback valuable, as in the end, they're the ones who listen to my songs.

"I'd share my yet-to-be-released songs with my fans randomly and when I get their feedback, I'd make my decision on which singles to be released. I'd do this especially when I can't decide on which tracks are to be released," he says.

Hence he is very grateful with the direct access artistes have with fans via social media platforms, such as TikTok.

"As a singer today, I'm glad that we have a platform like TikTok, which I use to share a 'teaser' with music enthusiasts out there and see what kind of responses I'd get."

Moodie, who rose to popularity through his single 'Drunk Text' last year, is getting busier these days.

Although he is excited that his career is picking up, the singer-songwriter admits that life is changing for him and he is still finding the equilibrium between work and life.

"I'm still adjusting. Whenever I'm involved in a big event, it's thrilling and I get this adrenaline rush. But I'd suffer the next day," he says with a laugh.

He adds: "So I'd make sure that I will get enough sleep, spend some time to meditate, as well as ensure some 'me time'."

As a young artiste, he admits that sometimes he would feel overwhelmed by many things around him and in his life.

Luckily for him, he is always quick to remind himself that he could always turn situations around to make himself a better performer.

Moodie was recently in town, as part of a series of meet-and-greet sessions with fans in three Southeast Asian cities, namely Manila, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta.

In Malaysia, Moodie performed at a showcase held at The Exchange TRX, filled to the brim with fans.

"I feel so honoured to see the huge crowd. We didn't expect such a crowd, but I was thrilled, of course.

"My only concern was those standing so far away from the stage and I don't think they could even see me," he says.

True enough, according to those who were right at the back, they could only hear Moodie singing and addressing them.

But fans, fear not, as Moodie is reportedly returning to Malaysia to perform at the upcoming Good Vibes Festival 2024, which will take place on July 20 and 21 at Resorts World Awana in Genting Highlands.
