KUALA LUMPUR: Thanks to his contribution to the Social Security Organisation (Socso) made while he was still actively performing with the nasyid group Rabbani, the widow of the late Nazrul Azhar Tamrin can now be a little relieved.

According to a Harian Metro report today, Nazrul's widow and his six children will soon receive financial assistance from the organisation, once the claim filed by Seniman Malaysia's committee member Salman Al-Farisi on her behalf has been processed.

"Alhamdulillah, the claim is still being processed now and thankfully, he (Nazrul) had taken the initiative to make the contribution while he was still actively performing with Rabbani then," said Rabbani's frontman Azadan Abdul Aziz in the report.

"Hopefully, everything will be sorted out soon for his family. For our part, Rabbani will keep on assisting the family, just like in the past seven years when Nazrul had to 'quit' due to his medical condition.

"Praise be to God, the remaining members of Rabbani have been watching each other's back and we are grateful to have organised a tahlil session for Nazrul at Masjid Saujana Utama, Sungai Buloh recently which was attended by almost 200 people comprising our family members and acquaintances," he added.

Nazrul breathed his last at his home in Saujana Utama at 4.44pm on May 22, after succumbing to chronic kidney disease which he had been suffering for several years.

He was 47.
