KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Mira Filzah and singer-songwriter Daiyan Trisha have slammed certain individuals behind the Blockout 2024 social media campaign for turning it into an "instrument of slander".

Mira said on X yesterday that some netizens purposely visited her social media accounts to "check" if she was actively supporting the Palestinians or otherwise.

"Netizens who have been following me for a long time know that I always repost stuff about supporting the people of Palestine.

"If there are certain people who don't think I am supporting them enough, feel free to block me instead of posting insults and slandering me," she said, adding that the Blockout campaign was fast becoming "maki out" ("insult out").

Daiyan, 30, whose real name is Trisha Mohd Nasaruddin, posted "solid proof" on her Instagram account that she was actively supporting the Palestinians by revealing that she had contributed RM100,000 to humanitarian organisations that helped them.

The organisations are Mercy Malaysia, Global Peace Mission, Viva Palestina and Cinta Gaza.

"I have never forgotten the Palestinians. I help them on the quiet, and my apologies to all who think I do not support them," said Daiyan, adding that she was not bothered about being "blocked".

Mira and Daiyan are not the only Malaysians who have been listed in Blockout 2024.

The others include Neelofa, Scha Alyahya, Awal Ashaari, Anna Jobling, Meerqeen, Datin Intan Najuwa, Sheila Rusly, Eyka Farhana, Nadhir Nasar, Mierul Aiman, Amir Ahnaf, Nabila Razali, Janna Nick and Ruhainies Zainul Ilyas.

The social media campaign began at the Met Gala 2024 fashion show held in New York, the United States on May 6.

It was aimed at "naming" celebrities who kept quiet over Palestine or openly supported Israel.

American actress Kim Kardashian lost 3 million social media followers as a result of the campaign.

Other artistes who lost support included BlackPink, Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez.
