KUALA LUMPUR: Newly-crowned Bintang RTM 2024 winner Roziena Ixzy plans to release a Bidayuh single later this year.

Roziena, or Roxy, said in a news report yesterday that her debut single will be released in collaboration with Xibo Entertainment.

Xibo general manager Jay C. Panganiban said her song in Bidayuh would be a labour of love to her community and a thank you for supporting her singing career.

"We are going on a tour this coming Gawai, and we will decide whether to release a single or an album for Roxy. We plan to extend Roxy's market presence to neighbouring Indonesia too," he said, adding that Xibo planned to enter the song into the Bidayuh Song Awards.

Roxy, a Bidayuh from Kampung Bratan in Kuching, said she began singing in primary school and won first prize in school singing contests almost annually.

"I come from a musical family. My parents are talented singers, and my siblings share a love of singing," she said.

Prior to joining Bintang RTM 2024, Roxy, 26, worked for her father's construction company.

Roxy admires her fellow award-winning Sarawakian singers Dayang Nurfaizah, Hafiz Suip and Amir Jahari and would love to collaborate with them someday.
